Current manufacturers of folders etc

Are they considered good quality? They just look like Edwards folders

Any other makes to look for?

They do folders etc but I suspect not cheap.

Warco.. wns.. baileigh industrial. There lots of companies make them. But depends on material thickness and width your looking at folding. But anything over 1.6mm and the price increases big time.

need 8ft x 2mm capacity.

Ideal word 3mm capacity but that's in to power/hydraulic folder territory (I think) so out the question unless I find one at an auction or cheap somewhere (thought I had found a Hydroform but it's 2mm capacity)

Having said that I'm half thinking waiting for a power folder cheap or getting a manual folder new would be better than paying the ~£2k usually asked for 8ft Edwards etc that are decades old!

The Edwards are old yes...but some parts are available like the pan keys ECT. And you will not find a better built bit of kit...but most probably you be looking at hydraulic with that size and width

I have a 2.5m x 2.5mm Carter box pan folder. Had about 5 years now. It's made in China and all Carter do is rivet their nameplate straight over the top of the Chinese one.

Its a decent enough bit of gear once set up but it's at least a 2 man job to bend 2mm @2.5m length! I have done short sections of 3mm on it but again it is a 2 man job to do so. It's not used much now as I gave up making ATV trailers a couple of years ago now, buts it's far too handy a bit of kit to get rid of just yet!

These are imported copies of the real deal and although some may be decent they ain't keetona or Edwards quality.
I'd discount baileigh from the short list unless you fancy waiting 4 months for spares/wear parts

I would add Warco too after my dealings with them.

Wow I never saw that thread.
Yes that's a few causes for concern.
I know the stuff these companies provide is cheaper but you'd expect it to work trouble free for a while and not be an out of the box rebuild.
TBH the product I bought from baileigh is a well put together and well toleranced tool
But the company stinks for any support after the tool is bought and they have your cash.

Been watching the Carter's on eBay. An 8ft 2.5mm capacity auctioned for £1500 last week. I'm guessing there's either a huge markup on these or he's having trouble shifting them.

Went to see a Keetona Hydroform last week....it's an 8ft 2mm capacity one so kinda wrote it off but having second thoughts now.
Apparently they're not worth anywhere near as much as the 3mm models. Majority of my use is ALU with occasional need for steel.
Guy's asking £1k for it + Quoted £330 to get a three phase meter installed.

Some stuff you can get for good money... only problem can be moving it. Old stuff is ridiculous weight ... especially if you live somewhere with limited access . I have a path going up the side of my gaff..not that wide.. probably just as well or I would have a garden full of stuff

Don't trade the Edwards in against it. sell it privately for a few quid more.
