Rivnut tool

Hi guys iv got a job coming up where im going to need to use a fair amount of rivnuts..however i have no tool, i did have one of the poprivet style ones which died pretty quick so im looking for ideas.

I have seen these which look pretty durable.

I've got the machine mart ones (needed a set in a hurry) and they've been fine. I believe this is whats meant mentioned above.

Id looked at similar ones to these aswell..they look pretty beefy..may give them a whirl...just womdering what they would be like in smaller spaces

A pain, you need the design the part so you dont have tool conflicts

They are all time consuming to be honest. The best are the air powered setters, expensive, but very fast. They are also expensive to repair, so need to look after them

Hand held hydraulic are good, very kind on the hands.




The bigger version of the scissor type are quick but you need to set them up properly or they will pull the threads.The cheap ebayish one at the back is a pain to use, the proper job at the front is good.

The ones in the lower pics at the front are a good tool if you have the room to fit them in and leave enough elbow room to pull the levers together. As said they need setting up properly as when they go over centre they need to hit the stops just before they over clinch and pull the thread, its a sort of feely touchy thing to set up.

Memfast, really good tool, bought the metric kit for the Defender

Cherry comuter keyboards tend to be super expensive, so a Cherry Aerospace part/tool price will be astronomical, better make sure your laying down when you see the cost/price........

I would not pay Cherry prices . A friend of mine used to supply tooling to the aero industry , when he packed up I got this one and a load of other gear in a deal. I would imagine there are cheaper copies produced.

Interesting Memfest do a UNC / UNF kit, I have been looking for an imperial rivnut tool for a while now.

I bought the short armed one for its ability to work in more confined spaces but if you want to set bigger than 8mm rivnuts then you need the long arm one

What size rivnuts? Seems you can buy attachments for drills, but the ones I've seen only go to M6
