Advice on lintle

I need to remove a breeze block wall that's been built under this lintel. It's right in the middle of the lintel.
It looks to me that the wall is not supporting anything and has been built after the lintel was installed. It had a fridge freezer in the gap.




Although the top block has cracked I'm hoping it's just from the beem settling on it. It's only half under the lintel anyway.
Any advice on weather its OK to just kick this wall down to give me some more space.

That's just manky thermalite. The cracked block was probably a result of hanging that bit of wood on it, many times people just smash nails directly into the block.

That's a big bloody lintel, what's it holding up?

It looks more like a 4" Thermalite divider than support, the lintel continues onto brick at both sides and looks hefty enough to take a fair weight.

It's only holding up the garage roof so not like it's supporting the house!
That wall was knocked out the lintel installed to help add a bit of extra space then the block wall was installed, there's a gap of about 2' behind it being wasted! It's also got a plaster board ceiling that has another 2' of space above it!

Yeah it's not exactly got a lot of overhang on the brickwork below!

Yes it's got a steel inside as well as far as I can tell.
Nice wood effect concrete...

deffo...it still has the shuttering plank wood grain markings stained into the concrete

If that's just holding up 5 course of brick and a shed roof then yeah whip the wall out. That beam is epically over-sized. It'll deffo have rebar in it too or it would have cracked by now.

that's what I like don't over think things and complicate them get planning involved and building regs. install concrete pads either side and make a big deal of it @ great cost just get it took out

Looks like half a brick, standard procedure for bedding a lintel.

Only one way to find out, get the mrs under it to smash that wall out with a sledge hammer. :-)

Well it's down!
Loads more room to work but I've found a rotten joist I'll have to replace

Faint hearts and little piggies and all that It looks like the water running down has rotted that joist. Can you knock another one in alongside it then chop that one out ?

New joist cut in, made it out of an old bit of the manky fitted wardrobes I ripped out last week.




Yes that is the missus washing line prop I've used to hold it up while the muck goes off....

Fair play. Only one niggle looking at your picks. Ideally should have cut a brick underneath bedded on mortar. Once dry tap a bit of slate between brick and timber to wedge firmly in place.
I'm jealous of all that space. Only got a single garage.
