@rtcosic nearly all the comparison webites are owned by insurance companies. You need to check more than 3 to get a quote

I know. I used the 'comparethemeerkat or whatever' term as shorthand for 'all' of them. Should have been more explicit.

The comparison sites give you a rough idea but not all companies use them. The one with the big red phone doesn't and they gave the best price for my sons golf. You still have to do some work to find the best price

It's because of all you young un's with your 2mm off the ground, puke green, drain pipe exhaust, boot full of concert speakers Ford ka's that ours is expensive

Renewed the insurance on my BMW 530i in july. Renewal was about a tenner cheaper than last year. Went on comparison websites and phoned around and it was still £20 cheaper than the next cheapest quote. Was happy with that that's with a specialist broker rather than one of the big names.

doing my cars insurance in 2 days they quoted 234 quick cheak of 3 compair sites cheapest was 224 phoned my insurance company and they said i get personal cover and key cover a car if in accident cover so just went with the old company as changing over is hassel as some insurers still seam to ask for proof of no claims so you have to contact your insurer get a letter or send off an copy of email seams daft as all insurance is linked so you would think they could just cheak

I arranged our multicar insurance on-line direct with one of the big ones. My wife and I's birthdays differ by a +/- pattern and I got hers 6 days out (not months or years, but days) and we are both old enough for the actual year not to make a difference - they increased the premium by £50 when I corrected it and decreased it by £50 when I changed it back. I even phoned and they did the same on their system and the same effect +£50 if your birthday was on the 15th - so clearly as we all suspected, they must use astrology to set the premiums

I've not renewed my insurance for the past 6 yrs i've always shopped around and each year when i do i get it cheaper even if its by a few pence(yer i know tight git)
I get the same cover with all the thrills,full comp,windscreen etc etc having a good NCB helps,i pay monthly to which stands at £13
My trick,is to wait 3-4 hours when your cover runs out(normally at midnight),contact,who your with(phone is the best way and cancel it) then hit the compare sites,as a new customer you get the best deals,works every time.
My other half does the same shes paying £9 a month full monty
Mind you,i do drive a Mk5 transit
