milwaukee cordless impact guns?

that in theory beats the milwaukee HUM I was going to get makita but at the time they were not as powerful, I hate having different batteries all over the place

There isn't a 1/2 inch gun as far as I know that offers as much power as the Milwaukee.
They ain't my favourite in all features but for power I doubt any other brand can beat it.
I'm the same as you I cannot stand having more than one battery platform. All my power tools are the li-ion snap on range. While there are things I prefer about the snap on stuff, they cannot crack loose to the same extent the Milwaukee stuff can. I think the snap on 1/2 inch is a good 150 ftlb of power behind the Milwaukee, maybe more. Saying that it is a powerful gun as are all the other 18v jobbies

Well they might wear out quicker on something like that but you will struggle to break a good one.
They have thicker walls and are softer material so they tend round off on corners and wear with use. Snap on impact sockets are brilliant and would cope under that power for a long time

Well I was using it on a brand new 42mm impact socket undoing some ridiculously tight 7.5 ton mitsubishi wheel nuts and it certainly made its mark on the female square drive. I wouldnt want to do that long term, it really needed 3/4 drive but the 3/4 ratchet and 5ft pipe would not undo them, with 23 stone on end of it. (not me BTW I'm only 18stone )

One thing I dont like about the waukee is the reduce power button it is hard to operate with gloves on if not impossible, and then when you have got it switched on is too slow and not very strong, a little like david and goliath, the compact has 4 settings and is my choice for general work.

I actually really like the low power mode on the 1/2 inch because you know where you are with it and it's a mode to spin up and touch on. If something has to be wrenched up tight as can be you go in full throttle but for anything needing a bit of care the low power followed by a twist with a bar is perfect.
The snap on one is just a variable trigger, hard you press the harder it goes. This works really well but you don't have the consistency of the Milwaukee with its low power mode. I prefer to tighten with a bar or torque wrench so in this instance I prefer the Milwaukees low power mode.

Very true li-ions don't like this at all.
My charger has a cut off on it that kills the charge from continuing after the battery is complete.
Good job really as many times they have been forgotten about.

what about storage when not in use...fully charged ok or what

managed to get a used gun minus charger at the weekend

I'm not an expert but as I have owned and researched them a little I can say they are quite happy left with been part charged. They do require a charge cycle though at least once a month.
They don't like been completely depleted so when your tool even remotely shows signs of lacking power remove the battery and swap it. Give the removed battery a bit of time to cool down before changing.

We have makita 18v 3ah x 10 within the company and they all get 3 charges a week. They get dropped, charged from empty (as empty as the electronics allow) charged in 22 minutes and left in the van winter and summer. They last about 4/5 years.
