R-tech 30 or Eastwood Versacut 40?

If you're considering Hypertherm then definitely give Thermal Dynamics a consideration too. Probably the two biggest players in the game of plasma.

The Hypertherm 30 Air is a brilliant little machine, can't fault it at all.

A good plasma is like any tool, you may have to spend a little bit more, but hopefully it should last you for life. That's my philosophy. However if its just for a few jobs, but a cut 30 or 50 and flog it on if it's still working. Inverter technology is cheaper, and physically lighter, however I swear by transformer based stuff, the more complicated the electrics, the more likely to go wrong. Just look at how many posts start by 'my xxxx has gone pop'. You restore vehicles, I don't know if you weld I don't follow anyone's posts that closely, I appreciate were not all rich, but if you're looking for something decent find the respected names and watch on eBay, Gumtree what ever, don't be in a hurry. As much as I detest American politics they do produce some quality tools. Shoot me down folks.

Just been looking at the GCE GLADIUS 40 on Welding supplies direct, bit more than I want to spend but It looks a decent machine? it has the pilot arc to. Has anyone any experience?
Also, that hypertherm is sold. I don't think I will get one for what I'm wanting to spend, not even close in fact! I'm really unsure what's a good plasma or not. I see a few second hand ones but I don't know if they are good or not.

The GCE's ain't a bad bit of kit from what I can see visually, I've seen them in the showroom but never turned one on so not sure what cut is like etc..
I do know that GCE are good with their backup in their machines.

Iirc they're not Chinese either, made somewhere in Eastern Europe I believe.

They are excellent
Great choice. If there is a single phase unit that's gonna compete with a hypertherm you have just bought it.

Amazing, thanks for all the advice, I thought it was looked pretty good. In a vid I saw online it was cutting 1" steel. Pretty impressive off 230v

Unfortunately I cannot justify the likes of that. Justify not afford. Me happy with me Stahlwerk granted mine is HF start not plasma arc. Health to enjoy.

Yes I know , I want to make a plasma table too and a sheet bender. Was thinking about buying a Fly press to bend sheet steel. Found one cheaply

a compressor over 50 litres is best but a 40 litre one will do it but for long cuts its stop start while the compressor builds pressure back up
