no real reason for this thread, but yesterday I started stripping one or my cars down to sort the rust out and repaint the underneath and engine bay again( I did the back third of the car 3 years ago to do a test for the Jotun 87 on its own.

and the first photo that I had of these cars together, taken in 2004.

its like playing spot the difference

one day I'll get the Triumph Herald rebuilt that's been in the garage for 20 years, so I don't need to work on these on the driveway .

That blue has faded a bit in 13 years.

yeah its been crashed into 3 times since then, when I get the herald out of the garage,it will be repainted to its former glory......and its a green car,but always shows in photographs as blue.

At least you managed to get a front strut fitted - progress is progress.

they havn't been taken off yet. think I might need copious amounts of atf and acetone to remove one of two bolts

We have multiple vehicles on the road and sometime you do get to the point where you could undertand the joy of having a new car every couple of years and never having to fix anything........ but it soon passes when you get you use a special tool

Just what I was thinking when I removed my radiator on Sunday morning to get to the ac condenser and both transmission oil cooler threads completely stripped off.

That's £220 to replace.

Thanks for trying to cheer me up, a grand a year, a lot of hours and too many scraped knuckles saves me more than £2000 a month on a lease for a new SL and F-type. That's me saved a quarter of a million every 10 years!

these could have disappeared with the scrapage scheme a few years ago, but I would have been bored without cars to play with......with hindsight I might have got more work done on the herald though.

well here are some pictures of the jotun that's been on for 3 years, I drive this car less than 1000 miles a year, and it is driven all year round,but it lives outside in all weathers in the wilds of Yorkshire.

the black and grey are both jotun 87 and there are a couple of coats of it and its been brushed on......I did wash the underneath of the car with a pressure washer before taking these photos, but other than spray from driving this in the only cleaning its had.

the brake pipes are kunifer and were fitted with new flexi hoses at the same time,and you can see how much they have already corroded. most of the rust n the grey jotun is at the edges of lapping panels but they were rusting from years ago, before the jotun was applied. these areas were stripped back to bare metal with wire brushes in a drill any rot was cut out and new metal was welded in place
