What age Mr Runnach? I think it`s just a Ford Ranger underneath, neighbour has one, few years old (in the garage so cant look and check) he`s had a few problems with the injection system lately, but thats about it. Tested a selection a few years back, personally my favorite was the Isuzu Rodeo. But then again, i went and bought a 5.9litre dodge instead, so what do i know.

Yep, same as a ranger (built side by side in the same factory). I have the Ranger supercab XLT - very nice truck. Mines on an 05 plate. The later ones have a slightly more powerful engine but some people complain that the gear ratios are too high on those - farmers have to use low range when manouvering around the yard with a trailer load of heifers on the back
Plenty comfortable enough, reasonable mpg etc etc. I'm pleased with mine so far, had it since June and put about 6500 miles on it.

I had the Nissan version (Navarra) for a couple of years and put 50K miles on it without any problems apart from tyres down to the legal limit at 48K and LSD takes at bit of getting used to in the wet.
Thanks for replies lads, I'll make further inroads to see what is available after the year. I was told bt50 was same as a ford ranger, but the rangers are bit like hens teeth 2nd hand around my neck of the woods. Good to hear tho, both appear to be fairly reliable!
Navara, I nearly bought one late October, but while doing further research, I found there was a prob with con rods popping through engine casing, 05 plate and below, then about a week later on tv's watchdog came the short clip about the con rod problem, so I reckon I had a lucky escape, as motor I was looking at buying was a 54 plate! Plus Nissans handling of the whole affair really did put me off looking any further, even a brand new one, the Nissan company did not do themselves any favours on how they reacted to conrod problem, at least in my eyes!

I must have been lucky then
I had a 52 plate new and put 50K on it!, although being a lease car it was serviced by Nissan every 6K.Hi Robo, it is the D22 that has the problems, or at least some of them? And twas the D22 I was looking to purchase!! Link to watchdog below in case you missed it.............

Is it a single or double cab your after, like I said, the neighbour has a ranger and i know he`s thinking of getting a newer one soon (the fault has been sorted btw) I can inquire if you wish, might even use it as an excuse to come up for a weekend.

Hi all
I just recently brought a Mitsubishi L200 warrior double cab off my brothers friend.
So far so good
I had to put a couple of tyres on the back which i knew when i had it (General Grabbers £160 fitted), this i didn't mind as the truck cost me 4k for a 54 plate with 60k miles.
I'm getting about 27 to the gallon at the moment, the megane i got rid off wasn't much better so i'm really pleased
There's a good site for these www.l200.org.uk although not quite as friendly as this one

I've also got an L200, mine's a 2000 double-cab Animal, I've had it for nearly 4 years now, the longest I've ever kept a vehicle! I'm really pleased with it, I don't do very many miles so economy isn't really an issue but I reckon to get about the same as Phil, 27-28. The later ones had a power upgrade fitted as standard, the ones between 2001 and I think 2005 could be retro-fitted with it but mine can't, unfortunately

I had a look at the power upgrade, but figured i was wasting my money for what i use it for.
i only really do about 6-8k a year, TBH I haven't smiled so much driving since i stopped using my MG midget in '96, my wife still hasn't come to terms with my new driving style

That's more than I do Phil, I reckon about 5-6K a year at the most 
. (I've got an MX5 for playing about in when the sun's out and I share lifts to work 
)
Those power upgrades are silly money if you go main dealer but you can get them on ebay a lot cheaper.
It took me about 3 years to convince my wife to drive my truck, she was always scared of it. Mind you, I wouldn't want to parallel park it myself, let alone have her do it. (It's got a stainless A bar on the front and a step and towball on the back so it's almost a foot and a half longer than standard)

I had the same on the Nissan, make useful parking sensors, when the car behind moves = stop reversing!

It might not be a lot of damage, but it's the aggro of getting it repaired + insurance company logs the accident. Was it a "boy racer" seeing the spotlights & stickers?
Had an uninsured car hit my wifes car just before xmas, waiting for insurance to decide if it's a write off

Driver legs it, then comes back when police have gone and removes car!

I think he was bit of a racer, at the earlier set of traffic lights i was turning left and he was on the opposite side waiting to turn right with the usual racer mannerism balancing/nudging on the clutch deciding if he could cut in front of my line of traffic to turn.
Like you say it's the aggro involved at least he was insured and admitted liability, even his insurance phoned on saturday to let me know he'd called them and admitted liability.
My insurance called today to let me they have decided to approve the repair
I had the family in the truck both my daughter (9) and son (7) where in tears fortunatley no one was hurt but now my son keeps checking out the back window for the next crash.
Thats shocking about the driver legging and getting his motor back later surely the police should have impounded it.
From that photo it looks not too bad to repair yourself another bumper (paint it black so you don't have to match the colour) but it does look like you'll have to put the welder to use first.
