I have just bought a very old, well used but perfectly serviceable Propane fired Farriers Forge............I may have paid a little, but not too much over the odds for it, but it is exactly what I need for heating the larger and solid pieces of steel so that I can hot bend them to shape.
I'll clean and tart it up a bit with a wire brush, give it a new coat of black paint and fit a new gas hose. Then I can get on and bend up a large batch of EuroClaw heads ready for the Autumn, as well as a start on other more artistic projects I would like to commence, including the 6 or 7 metre high "Burning Man."

I thought at first glance that the last pic said "No LPG", then looked more closely and assume it really says "NG"......

I am assuming that the NG is an abbreviation for Natural Gas.............. not that I am going to hook it up to the mains gas pipe.

Today I didn't aquire...
A Wilson sliding chop saw/radial arm saw.
A cast iron oldish spindle moulder
A wadkin bursgreen planer thicknesser.
What I *did* aquire was an overwhelming sickening nausea as I watched them purposely knocked off the wagon and smashed by the scrappy's grab arm.
There was a no. 30 (3c?) record vise, and a big flypress in the pile as well...
I did aquire a 1m ish worn out diamond concrete cutter blade (from a stack of 30ish) to make a machete, and some bits of aluminium to make a roof tray for my shogun

The Wadkin factory went quite recently too. Filled with end block flooring, all binned. Given the price of iron and steel and a certain country's over-production of both, the price for scrap cast is almost zilch. They're sought after machines for the quality, even if the wiring is shot you can always remotor and they're fine. Such a shame

A few years ago I saw 100 foot by 30 foot of that covered with screed and a computer floor put on top of it.
I was told I could have it for free but I couldn't delay the project... which effectively meant I couldn't have it :-(

Wadkin planer thicknessers are still very much in demand. A furniture restorer friend of mine has been after one for several years, but hasn't seen one for less than £600. Spindle moulders on the other hand, my landlords had one they didn't need and could barely give it away, it seems no-one uses them any more.

Spindle moulders are great for losing fingers in when climb cutting.
