I dont think they are. I've been through their website and the only reference to manufacturing is "Originally Abingdon Engineering, the company made a variety of goods, such as gear boxes, chains and motorcycles, for several years before concentrating solely on producing quality, professional user tools from the turn of the twentieth century onwards." There is absolutely nothing about UK manufacturing facilities today. They do talk about testing and inspecting, but not by whom and where. Again if they where anything more than an import and marketing company, they would be trumpeting the fact and their tools would be marked accordingly, as they used to be.Look at king dick they make their spanners in England but it doesn't actually say on the spanners made in England.
I remember someone posted on here a while back, was good to see they still make in the UKWell I'm pleased to see that. Its a shame that their website doesnt say that. I wonder why they dont put Made in on their tools?
Was that video on their website? I cant find it there at first glance.
I remember seeing recently that their spanners, ratchets and sockets are still UK make but other stuff like screwdrivers and pliers are made elsewhere now
Makes sense to a point. They have kept their core business as it always was but with the need to expand to deliver a full range of tools the investment would be very high. So for instance you need a mould shop to make screw drivers - simple answer instead of investing millions which would make the project infeasible sub it out to your specification.
It is all a bit strange I must admit why on earth doesn't companies like Facom & King Dick make a huge issue of stamping on every tool made Europe.
Something did hit me though. Even in America they know of Facom & King Dick and there quality. One thing though UK & France aren't known for the quality of manufacture in many countries. So does this have bearing on it?? maybe.
Every bit of Elora, Gedore & Carolus stuff I have has made in Germany on it (I know not all carolus stuff is made in Germany but the items I have are clearly marked as)
King Dick Tools (Abingdon Engineering, Abingdon King Dick) – The company have confirmed to me that the majority of the King Dick range of products is made at their factory in Birmingham. These include all wrenches; ring, combination, sloggers, podgers etc, and socketry. Some items though, such as their pliers and screwdrivers, are made for them in Europe.
I picked up a set of 7-19mm KD spanners in mint condition for 18quid. At the moment I'm collecting Carolus 15* ratchet spanners
