Still confused. Mine runs my lathe perfectly and has done for years. But I thought thats what a static phase converter did anyway...allowed you to run a 3 phase motor from single phase?Define 'work'.
You might be able to measure a voltage across the false phase on a static phase convertor without a motor attached, but that's because of the capacitors.
The false phase will be unstable, and if you were to load it up with a resistive load, it's voltage will likely fall quite quickly without much load.
A static phase converter relies on the load motor to stabilise the false phase. It's why you can't reliably use a static phase converter for anything other than a 3 phase motor.
