Dams shame about the broken casting, otherwise she would be a beaut.
That lowest one looks like a fixer upper if you have the broken off bits, no massive strain on that locality is there?I had decided that it was unlikely that I would find a donor drill for the right price, and the one I had is probably OK, it may need the sacrificial delrin cog but you never know, it could be OK. The motor tested fine. So I started buying the various knobs and some 303 bar to make some levers then I bought these two from the bay, they came as a pair. A bit more than I wanted to pay but I think I can recoup some of it later.
Meddings MB4 with 3 phase motor, good nick and very original.

And an old single phase Meddings Pacera

The MB4 looks lovely but has taken a fall at some point and has a cracked casting. It's the second time on the bay for this one recently, the original poster said it fell against an anvil in the workshop he bought it from.

Quite a big crack. It's a pity that I am going to steal parts from it but I think I will use the base and other remains for something else, not sure what yet. I definitely want the belt cover for the radial arm drill plus some of the knobs, probably the gearbox and a few other bits. I may sell the base on, not sure yet, I shall think about that once I have rebuilt the radial arm drill.
I'm not sure what to do with the older Pacera yet other than see how it is mechanically then decide whether to give it a bit of TLC and sell it on.
I've just about finished the Viceroy wood lathe, I shall post on that in the next couple of days then start on the big meddings.
Cheers
Andy
Unfortunately the broken bits are long gone, besides, I have to be ruthless and rob it for spares for the radial arm drill. However if I don't need many bits I will keep my eye out for a knackered MB4 with a good casting.
I think I may have a problem
Pictures?I now have four meddings, a tauco, a Warco and an Axminster pillar/bench drills. I think I may have a problem
My workshop is in that new film, Four Meddings and a Festool starring Huge Grunt.
Pictures?
Do you have any indicator of what the original colour was? I'm never usually a fan of hammered finishes (the grinder earned itself a smothering at some point which I've been chiselling off) but that Viceroy lathe you did was very nice.
