The massive UV discharge will kill the LCD over time. It's partially why they tend to have UV filters fitted if they're used by windows in bright/hot climates - otherwise they fade and the colours wash out just from the sunlight damage.
It's an issue where they're used as a masking screen with UV backlights too, although in that case they're usually just considered a disposable item/consumable.
workshop LCD's are often considerd disposable from the day they enter the workshop. im a mates workshop they use quite a few TV's on the wall for drawings ect and in the dyno cell, it's just expected that they'll kill one every so often to the point there is a spare ready
