I did some yesterday and I can assure you it looked nothing like that! Its a great video, I want to mangle some aluminium now .
Mine neither.I did some yesterday and I can assure you it looked nothing like that!
I thought so too, it didn't seem to be melting right down in the root.To me a lot of that doesn't look to have a lot of penetration
Probably trying to avoid melting through/suckback as it's only a cosmetic part that will go on a car for an intercoolerI thought so too, it didn't seem to be melting right down in the root.
Very impressive looking welds though.
I suppose it all depends what the part is for,
You've still got to keep the fill in the shielded zone but far away enough from the arc to avoid melting it before it's home. It's a fine line and more so with Alu due to its lower melting point.I'm crap at TIG but I weld up ali battery boxes for mobike batteries which are snug fit, so I aim to get no pen on the inside so I try () to sort do what he is doing, cept I don't get a stack of dimes, just a stack of cow splatz.
Nuthins let go to date, I bashed some test ones about in the vice, and they held up, but I was really wanting to see what happens on the bike with the jarring and low/high freq vibrations and the heat changes etc, so far so good.
I ended up dabbing the rod like he does, at first I was trying to keep the end of the rod in gas shield as per steel tig, but it would often blob up so I do it like he does, what do you xperienced guys reckon on that? do you use a similar technique???
It's a pencil torch.I like the straight torch he's using....cant seem to find one on welding sites.....

No but hf could possibly cause a problem with it.Are the screens affected by the uv light?
The intense uv light will affect the monitors over timeNo but hf could possibly cause a problem with it.
Does it. I didn't know that. Perhaps he has protected the screen with some form of filter cover???The intense uv light will affect the monitors over time
