OK Day 4 and we're still going strong, I added the last of the rails to the end panel, this morning and a quick check of the drawing
revels that it looks pretty much as it should
So finally thats the boring bit done , I welded one side on the floor ensuring that all remained flat and level, next a quick drive with the forktruck and getting it up off the floor, turned the opposide side on some trestles so i can weld that side...
Once fully welded i can look at getting the top and middle landing plates into position, the 50 x 50 angle that make the supports for the plates need to bolt onto the hole in the stringer, If i marked and drilled my holes right, everything should just bolt in the right place.
I started on the top return panel, Got the return stringer, The two posts bolted and the return stringer holes drilled
Then the moment of truth, seeing that everything should now bolt together i started to bolt the top landing plate down onto the stringer and return stringer
The reason i do this is to ensure that everything is square and all the bolts are in the right place, Its so easy to fill and re drill a hole in the workshop than to do it onsite and once its been galved.
The bottom of the top landing plate, show the angles, and where they bolt onto the stringers, So far every hole has been spot on, but there are hundreds to go
Then i did the same with the middle landing plate, all went ok and to plan
I then started on the steps, Durbar plate folded, I just need to fix 2 angles with 2 bolt holes drilled in each to bolt to the stringers
Just tacked for now because all i want to do is to have enough support to be able to bolt the other stringer on, si with the landing plates and a few steps it should take the support of adding the other stringer.
Once thats done i can make sure everything else fits, and move the stairs to the floor again ready for raising with the Forktruck once i have my legs done tommorrow
