This makes sense.OK well I have marked it up and made up a copper tail to check my dimensions. I haven't drilled it, so what diameter would you like, just a pilot? Do I just cut off the fitting flush?
To recap, it is blank off the original, fit a new 45 degree 16mm OD barb to the centre bottom and a straight 8mm barb at the centre top.

2 fittings.
1 cut at 45 facing down with an outside diameter of 16mm
The other cut at 90 with an outside diameter of 8mm.
If you do the bottom through hole at 10mm diameter that gives 3mm wall on the fitting.
Do the top hole at 4mm which gives 2mm wall on the fitting.
And I'll blank off the old one.
