Hi
Been lurking for a few days since my Clarke died - it served me and my father well....
So I want still have unfinished projects that require the hot sticking of metal together. I'm not after an intro welder
I have around £300 to £450 as a budget for the welder - I have a good mask and large bottle/regulator.
There seems so much choice and to be honest and whilst I'd love to spend £600 I cannot justify it, this machine is not earning money so I can't offset it against jobs, merely to get my projects done.
In terms of thickness it will range from classic car chassis and body panels to fettling my 5mm steel framed garage....
The Blackline and the Uptime seem ok from the mini reviews on here, as does the Rohr, I am a little concerned about longevity of these machines, but I do like the fact they are lighter.
You only need to replace twice though and its into the solid make territory! So confusing!
I'd also like to try Tig at some point but I suspect as in life if the machine can do a bit of everything it does so at a compromise - so maybe I'll just treat myself to an inexpensive Tig later.
Pretty sure I want to buy new, unless it came with a gtee.
Please can you help and point me in the direction of decent reviews/etc?
thank you
D
