I could be wrong here but I think that CUD lathe is ex educational and they are very basic. I don't think it will screw cut.....

Looks like I must be mad then, I have had many bargains off ebay, my last was a 16mm floor standing pillar drill in great condition for less than £70.
Ebay is no different to anywhere else, there are overpriced items, bargain prices, honest sellers, lying sellers and everything in between.
I find the people who call it the most are the one's who spend money without checking the item, I call that self inflicted madness.
I'd say either your expectations, patience or buying technique are at fault, largely. Most of my stuff was from Ebay. Like Steve, I must be a madman too, judging from your surmision.
