Ceriated Tungstans (Grey Tip)are a tolal nightmare.Try the White Tip,yuo should get a nice ball on the end of the Tungstan.
Could it be clear anodised and would need more than a wire brush to get through the oxide.
It's a stahlwerk 200 s
It works fine in dc. This misfire happens in Ac
Iv emailed them and waiting to hear back
How does its work in AC? Is the HF working more in AC and only for ignition in dc??
I haven't read all posts, with your comment above, you have an HF issue when on AC.
I've ran directly on anodised Alu with a more stable arc than that in the past.
HF requires to be continuous in AC mode (alternating current from ac to dc in rapid fashion). DC mode, this allows arc to be established, then HF cuts outs, as no longer required to keep arc iniciated till welding is ceased.
A good explanation in easy terms. Radio on while welding on AC mode, radio signal obliterated till welding ceases. DC mode, radio signal obliterated, till arc established, then HF cuts outs, audio on radio continues. This may differ with new inverter technology, the above example refers to old transformer plant.
Viewing your vid clip, I would say you have a HF issue, on AC mode.
Hi Henrik, that is barely a puddle there just the etching.
Hello mate, I have stacks of it satin anodised bar Which appears to earth through and even weldable on top of. Perhaps there is metallic part in the coating on mine as it seems to arc directly through it.Evening Richard, normally a perfect anodised finish, no matter clear or coloured, will seal the component, making earthing impossible, unless a certain area is filed/buffed back to raw material.
HF goes off after arc initiation on most modern AC sets, been that way for years.
