You don't need a pedal to operate HF start any form of switching will do that if the machine has hf which 90% of acdc's do.Last time I welded alloy tig was about 10 yrs ago, in fact it was the last bit of tig I done haha. but here's my penny's worth anyway.... You said earlier about waiting for a foot pedal connector, does that mean you are trying scratch start? I saw the video back there but it's not working on my iPhone(modern technology eh?) also what are you using to grind your tungsten.... If you have been grinding them at all, I know if you grind on a wheel that has been used for other materials you pretty much have the tungsten shagged full of other stuff that will cause contamination. If I have said anything daft feel free to call me a tube!
That tungsten looks normal. They will ball up as part of the process. The more you bios the ac wave into the positive the more your tungsten will melt.Yes I have the foot pedal working. Iv tried different arc lengths and all the same sputtering. It should stay somewhat stable if kept in one position and it's not. One thing I noticed is the tungsten always ended up like the pic below. Running it on Dc the arc is very stable no sputtering. And yes tungsten is ground only with its own wheel.
I think I dipped the metal when I took this pic. But I'm on about the black going up the sides of the tungsten
Kees us updated on this. I have a stahlwerk 200 too, so very interested in how you get on with this (still to try mine on ac)Will do thanks for the help
I will I hope to God shipping from ireland isn't too much. But I knew it was a risk when I bought the welder. No answer today I think there is a National holiday over there today
When you do get a change to try it on ac let me know how you get on.
