Because it should be in stock when they list it...Why shouldn't it be allowed? if they are out of stock and they take the listing down then they're going to get billed for relisting the same item if and when they get more stock in.

I bought my Cut50 off ebay about 8 years ago now for I thing about £170, still got it and it works great, good finish on up to 8mm, will do up to 16mm but rough edge left
Did think about a Hypertherm myself but the intial cost was just a yard too far in the equation...Resale price held no bearing for me personly as when i buy i buy to keep and not sell again so with that and outlay i went for the R-techI got a Hypertherm 30XP, did not want to spend that much but resale value and support where factors for me (plus it's a VERY good cutter), turns out I use it MUCH more than I first thought so after the shock of the cost it has worked out well, each time I use it I think "damm, how did I ever get on without this thing!"
I am sure you are right.. And I suspect the CUT50 would be fine for my needs.. But I had a nightmare with my SIP welder (specifically inconsistent wire feeding) and regretted the fact that I had gone "cheap" from the day I bought it.. And I figured that paying a bit more now, is some times the better course of action
Not sure that for me, the R-Tech is worth 2.5x the price.. But I figured it was worth it.
Thanks all for your help.. It turns out that by a huge co-incidence, my Nephew was in the very same estate as R-Tech.. And is going to collect it, which will save be £10 in shipping.
your buying a pig in a poke tieh the cheap ebay stuff. it may do the job, but will it last?
Cheap is cheap for a reason!
I can't comment on the rtec as not used one but you do realise they are Chinese as well ???
I just replied to the thread title asking for cheap advice, I don't think you will find cheaper than £170
Actually you will.. The current price of the CUT50 is under £150... And if it works, its a steal.. But if its unreliable.. Or breaks down.. Its a waste..
From what I have read.. The problem with the Chinese models is that they are built on MOSFET technology, designed for acoustic use.. Where as the more expensive machines us IGBT Inverters designed for the job.
So whilst the R-Tech machines (And others) Are made in China.. (as is everything), the R-Tech is based on a better design, hence the higher cost.
Yeah mine is mosfet but never had a problem with it, ya pay ya money and take ya chances.
But my reply was aimed at the thread title .
Like Langy I took a punt on a CUT50 and although I have only had it around 4 - 5 years against Langy's 8 years it hasn't missed a beat.
It's a handy tool but unless I dramatically increased the use of a plasma I couldn't justify paying any more than what I paid originally.
how to repair a faulty cut 50.
As long as you know my normal repair method is a big hammerive got one steve you can try on LOL
think i only got to use it about 5 times.
I've probably used up my forum karma what with getting (and then fixing) a little broken clarke inverter mma/tig from tiggy
Nah, I knew you had that one in hand (Did you figure out the 'post gas' port on the rear btw, backpurge port?)
