The coils on the contactors should have a voltage rating printed on them, you need to see what they say.
Ah...well there is no bulb in the light so its possible the transformer was not working as well...lolThe 24V transformer is m1, it's wired across the main contactor and all it does is powers the light.
Ok to clarify. If i push the main contactor in manually the lathe runs.If you press start and the main contactor won't pull in, but the pump contactor will pull in if you hold start, then the fault is that the main contactor pull-in coil is either getting no power, is open circuit or has a return fault.
Where does the other side of the meter go to?You don't need to. If the pump contactor pulls in you have 110v.
Check out this terminal in the pic, no14 on the main transformer auxiliary contact. Look at the wiring diagram it should have two wires coming off it. One goes to the start button, the other goes to the pull-in coil.

Follow both wires and give the ends a tug. If they are secure get your meter on that terminal. When you press the start button you should see 110v on terminal 14.
How many va would the 415 to 24 v transformer need to cope? It'll need to be a 415v pull-in and have one NO auxiliary to be a direct swap. I have a drawer full of them but they are all 24, 110 and 240v coils. I have a couple of 24v transformers but none that are 415v primary.

I have just purchased 3 contactors. The ones i told you about just up the road. 7 quid each.... so i will have a safe system and a spare so i wont need to worry if the same happens again.Blown pull in coil?
Ten man points if you re wind it yourself....
Yes mate i would guess so. Shipping would be the issue.. i really dont have a clue what size i do need though.Maybe a little large for your needs - https://www.homeworkshop.org.uk/index.php?option=com_adsmanager&view=show_ad&adid=34327&catid=2
Ah not any more..lolIt's only for a lamp, isn't it? 25VA would do.
