I am going to be doing a conversion to my Phoenix 330 compact by making a separate wire feed unit so that I can leave the welder in the car and have a 15m interconnection to a suitcase type feeder that I can lift onto the boats. I can then use my Push/Pull torch to give me a further 8m reach.
I will be removing the wire feed motor, feed rolls, Euro connector etc and fitting them in the suitcase. I will make up extension wires inside the welder to a panel socket on the front, that way I will be able to put everything back intact if need be and not have to cut any cables or make any alterations to the original welder.
I found some old 1.5" fire hose today which I will be using to house the 15m interconnection cables.
I also received the second hand Pelicase from eBay today, think I got my sizes wrong a bit, it is huge, bigger than the welder itself
Won't matter much as it will be lighter but more importantly it can be hauled up the side of boats or lowered down the pier wall and I wont have to worry about scratches and dents in it. I will keep an eye out for a smaller one at the right price but for now this will do.
That's the story so far, hopefully I will get a chance to work things out over the next week or so and make some progress.
