Hi folks,
Hoping someone might be able to help. We've got an old Tyzack & Sons Zyto lathe that we're trying to get up and running. Everything works well except the chuck which is one of the knurled-ring tightener ones and won't really hold steel without spinning.
Checking the dimensions the spindle has a 7/8" BSW (9tpi) thread which is a bit of an odd one, only shared with some very early Myfords before they standardised. I don't suppose anyone has a spare 7/8" BSW chuck or faceplate lying around they might want to part with (I think it's shared with ML1s, ML2s and early ML4s). Failing that, does anyone know anywhere that will make custom faceplates. All we really need is the thread cut in the middle and we can take the rest from there, but we don't have another lathe to do it on (and we're very much beginners!).
Thanks in advance
