Having been linked to a website called retrorides I read through a couple of projects done by a member with a tag of "tonybmw" Worth a read to see the standard of welding he has achieved doing car repairs mainly using an old Clarke welder. I think he has upgraded to a portamig now. Anyway, one thing he mentioned was using the "zintec" sheet steel. A lot better he reckoned than "normal" mild steel sheet. So whilst at my local steel stockists here in Stoke "A.D.Hall Ltd" yesterday getting some angle iron for a project I noticed that they had started to stock sheet steel. For some reason they never used to but I suppose they have had to broaden their stock to broaden their custom base. Anyway, I asked about the zintec sheets and although they do not stock it they managed to find one of their suppliers who do. So, as they were due to put a order in for their stock replenishment they added a sheet of 8x4ft 1mm of zintec for me. £33. Cutting is free, as they cut my angle iron into the seven different lengths I needed, it saved me doing it! So I thought I would post this info for anybody in this area in case they need sheet steel.
