Zinc primer over existing paint

Hi there,

I've just done a rust repair on the bulkhead on my BMW E30.

I'm going to paint it with electrox zinc primer, but just wondering what will happen if some of the primer gets on the existing paint? Will it not adhere and cause problems after its all topcoated with 2k paint? I've heard that zinc primer needs to go onto bare metal, which is why I'm wondering if it will cause problems.

should be ok and its unavoidable on a repair, just make sure the existing paint is keyed before hand

should work ok as long as the old paint is sanded up well

Can I go straight over the zinc primer with high build 2k? Or does the zinc need to be keyed?
