I was using YouTube last night on the desktop without ads.

I've used it this morning on my mobile without ads.

Id suggest you encountered a blip rather than a permanent change.

The violentmonkey plugin is for Facebook. I run an additional user script on it to chop out all the ads / suggested posts etc.


On the desktop there's other tools available, but mobiles are harder to clean up.

I run a PC running Windows and Firefox.
Probably doesn't work on mobiles or tablets.
Probably doesn't work on Chrome or Edge.

Again, this is for mobiles. For desktops you need to do somthing different.

Chrome, on Android, so far as I remember, does not allow plug ins in the same way. So, whilst I'm on chrome now, for YouTube and a couple of other sites, I use a different browser called kiwi.

So I've installed kiwi, and then installed ublock origin into kiwi.

I've then created an icon on my mobile that opens kiwi direct to YouTube. So it's very similar to the YouTube app, rather than a browser.

All YouTube vids then play without interruption.


I have another icon on my mobile for Facebook. Again it replaces the Facebook app, but has the Facebook icon etc (as does the YouTube one). If I click on the Facebook one, it opens Facebook, just like the Facebook app, but without all the ads and suggested posts.

That uses the violent money plug in and a user script, which is very very slightly more complicated, but the YouTube setup is easy.


Id need to look on the desktop to find out what you need to do there. It's simpler but it's not the same. No YouTube adds, no interruptions.

Facebook on the desktop uses a different set of tools also.

I know a lot of snowflakes get their knickers in a twist over Facebook, but it's just a bunch of forums really. I was asking on a page last night about 300tdi water pump bolts.

I think those who leap out of the woodwork with their usual rants are as ignorant as the "Karens" that they spend their time getting worked up over. The rest of us just seek the specific information we desire using whatever pathways are available to us.

There's two Facebook icons as sometimes the genuine one runs market place better.

The only YouTube icon is the one with the ad blocker installed. Ie not the "genuine" YouTube app.

My perception is that it is 2 seconds to tap on the unwanted bit,and I am getting it for free. I appreciate it.

I've had Ublock origin on a windows PC for a couple of years.
I'm sure it was straight forward to download and run.

I have no ads on you tube using ghostery, u block and adblock.
Every now and again it will come up with ad blockers not allowed but that goes in a day or so and not come back for a couple of months.

Again, for an android mobile. Not for a desktop.

Creating the icon is optional. You would just have to search every time otherwise.

i call youtube

youtube glitch to hell as it cant make up its mind if you get an add or not

it freezes to hell and back often and this is caused by the ads as goes for some links its near on every 2-3mins in some videos

Just get youtube premium, no adds at all on all devices including TV. Ok i think i pay £12 a month for it but all my TV watching is strictly Youtube as i dont have Sky or Netflicks, plus its so refreshing to watch on android phone with no adds.

Brave browser has been completely ad free for years since it started, I just don't get any ads at all. And it costs nothing!

Works on Android phones too.

I'm not used to seeing ads anywhere, used another browser the other day and I was truly shocked at the amount of ads, won't be doing that again!
