I don't need access, @gaz1 , but I do want to be able to see the water: just because, really. We have other wells and cisterns for practical purposes.is it a working well or are you blocking all access to it ?
Well, no-one's going to fall through that, are they, Bob?!!!Its not hard to make up a cover with heavy flat sections. I knocked up the one below to cover a sediment pit in the middle of a gravel carpark, something similar would do the job. Made in two parts because it was kin heavy.

Locally, I can get 6mm or 8mm diameter rivets, in either 20mm or 40mm lengths. What thickness flat bar did you use?
