Morning all. ...having a small problem with a single cylinder yanmar diesel engine..I am in the middle of fitting this engine in to an old power barrow for my dad...yes I know...its total scrap heap challenge with my old man...engine runs and starts fine...but smokes through out the Rev range...i have so far fitted new injector pump and injector. .air filter..but still blue smoke...its am thinking may be a valve or posible ring..but the smoke don't smell oily. .its have posted a small video so you can see...may be you guys have had experience or issues with one of these. .cheers.

Check the engine oil level is not above max.

For a derv it don't look that bad. We have dozens of similar motors that smoke double that.

That's just a slight smoke haze, what's it like after 30 mins of running when everything is warm???

I have the l100 clone and it smokes until it's at working temp

My Mahindra used to smoke badly. It had been standing for many years. I drained the fuel tank (found it was full of red diesel) and filled with fresh pump diesel. Smoke went away

Thats quite an angle for what is normally a flat mounted engine. I know the L100 has an oil dipstick port both side but not sure if the L40 does as well. If it has & you are using the higher one to set the level its going to be seriously over filled. Try setting the level when its level. Also check the max angle they can run at.

I can alter the angle that's not a problem. .but I will look in to it some more....I had it running this morning and noticed a very slight miss fire through out the Rev range..almost like it's drawing in air but it's not....
