Yanmar engine welder generator ?

Anyone have any experience of Yanmar L100 10 hp Diesel engined welder generators ?

The power output of these engines is quite low for a 180 amp welder, I had a 220 v generator with one and it couldnt even burn a 2mm electrode without blowing the AVR, do they struggle , are they overloaded at full amps, are they disappointing ?

Other 200 amp units like Arcgen use a 2 cylinder Kubota engines, there must be a reason why ?

That engine would drive that no problem, there’s a 13hp Honda connected to a sincro generator here no problem. The diesel might be 10hp but it would have more torque. The diesel be far superior to a petrol set, they would burn a lot less fuel, and they can run on agricultural diesel half the price. Only down side to the diesel for me is it’s in the back of my van , so it would be louder and smokier, and if you spilled diesel it won’t evaporate like petrol the smell of diesel would cling, and if the petrol one is left up for a year it will start straight away usually or without much fault finding change plug and new petrol. The petrol one I have is animal on fuel round 3litre a hour if heavy welding
