i suppose i can never be sure what i like till i buy one and try it for myself, so far though ive realised the wp26 is a dog of a thing, but good for welding thick alloy wheels and castings i guess, lets hope this improves my weld appearance a bit as its never as nice looking as i would like it to be

ive kind of decided on this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/WP20-25FT-TIG...696?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item19c25852e8 torch with the flexi head option, would i waste a lot of gas purgeing the lines with the 25 foot cable? may be usefull for welding without having to move my welder/ your thoughts!?cheers

My WP17 has a 25' lead. My welder is 5' from the bench on the left. Still use all of its length to reach around to the right, then back to my right and with enough slack that it is not pulling on me.
Purge is just a few seconds. I have near 20' more of hose to purge when I start. I doubt it makes a lot of difference in gas use. Don't really care as gas is inexpensive here.

I've setup a temporary water cooler with a small submersible pump (indoor water feature pump) (only a trickle comes out )and a 20 litre plastic container filled with anti-freeze and water. After an evenings welding the temperature of the water in the container hasn't noticablely changed (bare hand on plastic) but the torch handle (WP18) is cool to the bare hand.
I do VERY tight welding, (manifolds) and use a rigid torch pretty much all the time, I've got a flex torch under the bench but never bother to change. The problem with the flex is you have to hold the head like a pencil and I find it gets too hot too quickly. I'm thinking about watercooled, but to be honest I think its mainly the ceramic that gives you issues.
Really? I find the opposite is true, If I'm not walking the ceramic around the joint then I find it 100 times easier to weld with a flexi torch, especially in tight spots, and I almost always hold the torch like a club/hammer. I guess it depends on what you're used to though, as I've also worked with some guys who wont use anything but a rigid torch.
so the torch arrived and i connected it up, now the problem is that when i try to check my gasflow through the torch i find that the gas supply to the torch seems to be seperate from the current supply, i believe that the torch has the pipes the wrong way round (its a water cooled torch) any ideas? im going to contact teh seller now
