Well I need two actually.
The original gear shifter for the earlier A4LD is a horrid thing, like a Jaguar one, with zig zag gates. I want to swap it for the Scorpio type, which I have already done on the red GTC and for the Middlebridge. The height of the Scorpio shifter is wrong, but I have made a plastic spacer to deal with that. Because the lever lengths are different, it is difficult to get the earlier 'box into Park and 1st gear which puzzled me for a while! The Scorpio uses the later A4LDE which clearly requires a different throw for some reason. I thought that they were largely the same 'box.
The issue is the throw of the actuating lever and its sex. The original is a male with a fairly long lever, the Scorpio is shorter and female so I need an adapter to convert the Scorpio item to suit. My first thought was that as the shaft appeared to be the same length, swap 'em over. That turned to worms when I had them both stripped and found that one was fixed with a Cotter pin and one was drilled. Final solution would be an extension leg which can perhaps be bolted into the hole on the Scorpio and terminate in the male pin with a groove cut into it which will accept the quick clip. That would also make it easier to retrofit to the GTC.
I have no metal thick enough in stock and no means of making the pins, so hoping that someone would like to take the job on? Cost will be a factor, being (trying) to be retired now, so would need an estimate first.
