would like to learn to mig weld

Hi could any one help me learn to weld three years ago i had an accident while riding my motorbike before the accident i was always getting my hands dirty working on cars for my family and friend just small jobs but i enjoyed it im in a wheelchair now and i have alot of time on my hands so i thought i would get myself an old banger to fix up but as we know with all old bangers comes some pretty bad body work it's a lot harder to work on cars now but i would still like to do it i am able to get in and out of my wheelchair and i walk short distances with my crutches also i drive my own car so if anyone who lives in the chislehurst area and thinks they could help me learn how to weld please contact me

Good for you Ron! Unfortunately I'm miles away but I would have very gladly spent some time with you at the weekends. I'm SURE somebody in the forum in your area will soon oblige. Great stuff! Let us have some pics. of your project when you get underway.

Hey Ron!
Welcome to the forum mate. I would heartily recommend you call around the local colleges (North West Kent College?). Most of these places offer members of the community "Short courses" or "part time" courses for leisure.

My College in the NorthWest, taught an enire range of courses from building kit cars, refurbishing classics, Motorcycle maintenance, metal fabrication for motorvehicles ad nauseum. Some of the above included a part-course of welding as well (basic, incl plasma, mig and if the guys showed some talent, they were shown tig as well). I did City and Guilds welding, which was a day a week for an year.

BTW, the welding jobs were done in a static position and I was sat in a stool. This might be good for you.

DO IT!! and build a trike, I tells ya!
