Advise please.....
Saw vice gave up the ghost today. The leadscrew (pictured standing on end) is fine, it mst be fairly hard as there is no wear on it. The bottom part of the vice into which the screw passes is badly worn such that the thread jams/slips as it rides over the threads. (The jaw close hydraulically so there is some big forces in play).
The 'block' that is worn is pictured standing on end to the left of the allen screws. How feasible is it to drill out, sleeve then cut new threads. (No idea what the leadscrew thread is, and if a matching tap can easily be sourced)
Thoughts oh wise ones?
