Probably not but its what Ive done for 40 years.It's not a situation that's unique to the welding or fabrication industries, I'm afraid...
There has been some very dodgy Welding Distributors over the years....The whole business seems to be rife with underhand tactics and snake oil salesmen type people. Fortunately the cream rises to the top and these people disappear, usually leaving debts behind them.
I remember one advertising for salespoeple and using a Mercedes company car as bait....when Mercedes were exclusive....in fact they got a Smart Car....Ive known Distributors selling products for less than they were paying....I was once in a meeting with a Distributor and a massive End User....the Distributor had done everything to keep me out but the End User wanted me there....I knew what the Distributor was paying and they were offering the End User lower prices....I just had to keep my mouth shut......I later discovered that they had people on the take who would sign for 3 pallets even though there were only two. I could go on and on.
