Workshop storage and racking.

Firstly, has anyone on here had any experience with the cheap racking off eBay, I'm thinking of this stuff.

Secondly has anyone got any tips or tricks for ingenious storage ideas as I am now slowly but surely mounting more items on the walls and ceiling but im starting to run out of floor space.

It's ok for the price as long as you fix it to a wall and screw a decent batten under each shelf to stiffen them.

I was thinking of welding a cross in the back of it and mounting it on castors to move it around.

I think you will find even braced it will wobble something terrible, they are just slotted together, if you have the time you could probably get the steel to make your own for the cost of that one.

What about a load of empty big paint tins laid on there sides and stacked up ?

By the time you've welded in brackets and screwed to a wall and added supports under the shelves, is it not easier to build your own?

I used 2x3 ish cls from B&Q to make a ladder style frame for each end and then added some stringers to support 18mm flooring grade chipboard. Unit is loaded to the hilt and beyond and still going strong

Have used some of the slightly smaller ones,
1, You will turn the air blue while you are putting it together.
2, Watch out some is galvanized, while some is silver paint.
3, The MDF is very thin, while it may hold 175Kg or whatever they state it won't hold it for long before it starts to sag. Be prepared to beef up it

As with @WorkshopChris I've had the same experience, it's now long gone and replaced with dexion style racking, all S/H but defo more sturdy
