Old oil containers make handy storage containers for steel braided cables, piping etc.

Ain't that the truth. Making sure you make any storage sheds slightly smaller than vehicle size is a smart idea too. It removes the 'retirement project' temptation....

I have the entrance on one of my storage sheds slightly too small to get a car through.
Currently theres a ford pop in there, that only fitted because its got no axles and wings on it
Must finish the barn->massive workshop conversion now...

Austin Gypsy in mine. Even had to take the rain channels off the cab to sneak it down the side of the house too, it was such a tight fit.

Just cobbled up some new shelves to go next to the mill as i am sick of all the mills tooling being located all over the workshop. Also the vices have never had a home when not on the mill table so Ile not be tripping over them any more.

i just use as small a bench as possible for mounting things like lathes, my bench drill is on a stand that pivots so drill can be swung out of the way. Utilise under bench storage, i welded bits of angle to the inside of the legs and put some thick ply on them to make quite large shelves that hold alot. My rolla cab box fits under the welding bench too and everything else is in the van lol

id like a pic on your pillar drill on how its done broken biker mines a big heavy one and id love a way to use it and push it to the side

I got the bigger shed as seen with the pics ive posted on the site its 10' x 8ft inside dimensions but i have a 4'x3' welding table / working surface the other side is now for cupboards and shelving

My welding bench is 8'x4' I've been toying with the idea of cutting it down but it's so handy when building big frames

id actually cut that down into 3

4'x4' 2 x 2'x2' with wheels on then you can move it into place or move it so it can be made even bigger that what you have

Mounting stuff to walls, off the floor is good. I have a pair of bench grinders that sit on a Spinny thing so I can flip between them or turn them 90° so they're tighter to the wall. Can only use one at once anyway. Seen someone mount an inverter type welder high up on a tv stand, that looked neat. Shelves are OK at eye level or above but drawers are better under benches, getting to the back of a shelf a foot off the floor is so tiresome. Old filing cabinets can be cheap and keep stuff clean. If you can make a rack for stock steel that you only see the ends of, it can make use of dead space, overhead or under a bench or between a wall and cupboard. Have seen sheds with a little window/door to feed stock into a chop saw from outside or to let you slide long lengths in wherever they're kept. I need a clear out.
