Workshop Refit melted polystyrene

So Im refitting/rearranging my workshop to get the lathe in there so i lifted a section of the wood floor and found a melted section of polystyrene now if it was under the joint I could understand a hot spark etc but it not dont know how it could have happened ????

A spillage of something has dissolved it?

Has something leaked through, brake cleaner etc

Some kind of solvent fumes. There's no charring so it must have been chemically melted.

There's a mirror imprint on the underside of the floor panel you lifted suggesting solvent of some sort perhaps leached or leaked through the wood.

Acetone is brilliant for dissolving polystyrene, it's actually quite fun to do and compelling to watch. Take a gigantic lump and watch it disappear into a ball of snot.

That was sorted last year leaking gutter
