looking for a good free standing floor lamp that doesn't activate the self darkening helmet. thanks. Ted Russell.

if you want that then stop using the auto darkening helmet
as the helmet is doing its job by protecting your eyes in bright lights and thats whats triggering the helmet
with my helmet i turn its grinding function on to get to where i need to and then turn its welding function back on to weld

I can't tell you how many times I've had arc eye from a 40 watt bulb!
@ted russell , A lamp shining onto the workpiece should not be causing the mask to darken, can you adjust the sensitivity of your mask?

but if hes using the mask for general clean up whilst using the grinder he can trigger the welding function on the helmet
getting into position for welding whilst the mask is on he can trigger that mask
a bright led lamp or spot light can trigger that welding function and so can sunlight coming through under the car ( yes you can adjust the sensertivity on the mask but you can still trigger that mask )
my helmet has the grinding function on it, so i turn it on whilst the helmet is on when im getting into place to weld as it stops false triggers and turn it off to weld
reflection light shouldnt trigger that mask but direct bright light will trigger the mask
