I have two oldish B&D wood routers about 500w mark, now they are noisyish and I was pondering would I lessen the noise if I was to take away the plastics and house the motor in a square aluminium casing with a thickness walls of 15mm to 20mm do you reckon this will reduce the noise level?
Basically I don't use them anymore, one new and other secondhand and so with me building a CNC I thought of using em for the spindle on CNC but as they're at the moment do emit a bit of noise.
They're are of the straight body type as in the link, once the base has been unbolted they're just like a hand held dremmel drill but bigger.
