does anyone have any idea how i can stop the smoke coming out of the door while it is open, i have a air vent in the front at the bottom and a baffle just below the flue and a turny watsy thing in the flue
if you have smoke coming from the burner then chances are your flu is too small or restricted in some way and there isnt enough draw when the burner is lit
just to add a little your (turny watsy thing in the flu) damper, i think they are now illegal as they can cause carbon monoxide poisoning so i would get rid of that as it will narrow the flu anyway even when open
With wood you don't need a bottom inlet for air, as you would for burning coke.
I'd close that off and you should get more air drawn through the door. My stove has an adjustable vent in the door.
Snooper - Interesting point about the flap in the flue, I wondered about the safety of that on mine. It has a hole in it so the flue is never fully closed, but I always had a CO monitor and never left the stove burning overnight.
the op has another thread showing the construction of his burner and the flu is too narrow and to add this problem the damper he installed restricts it even further even in the open position it will never draw properly with the door open due to the flu width
