Evidently Omega Wolf of Kirkby In Ashfield, online sellers of welders, compressors and various tools have gone bust. I've got an outstanding order for a compressor - looks like I'll have to claim off the Credit Card Company. Just info for anyone else in the same position. Looks like the usual story - taking orders up to the last minute and claiming they didn't know they were going under! Website has gone down now so they won't be taking any more.

Martin Lewis's Money Saving Expert site has the info from a poster who knows TNT are holding his order and won't deliver because they haven't been paid either. Either they're 'in administration' in which case existing orders might be fulfilled or in 'liquidation' in which case there might be a big selloff. I suppose the Chinese will be able to relabel the kit. Aldi have certainly sold some of the same stuff under a different name (Powermaster??) in the past.

After the way I was treated by OW over a 'return for repair' I can only wonder it took so long for them to go bust! Just deserts for the smug b****r I kept having to talk to on the phone. IMHO they shouldn't sell stuff they can't fix. Pity really as I would have liked to use the brand new tig if it had ever functioned........Sorry rant over

I thought that Wolf are in Administration. Perhaps the liquidator or someone is clearing existing stock. All I know is that Aldi stores are currently full of products with the Omega Wolf name on the boxes. Last week I bought a petrol powered hedge trimmmer from Aldi. There's no sticker or anything over Wolf's helpline details on the box. A manager told me that Aldi would cover the 3 year warranty even though he didn't know Wolf had gone bust. And this coming Thursday, one of their 40-160A arc welders is coming up again, for only £29.95. That has a 3 year warranty, also!

I bought a gasless mig from Wolf about a year ago and the wire feed would not work no matter what I did. I contacted Wolf and they said that they never had any complaints before!? I kept at them and they finally decided to replace it. When the new one arrived although the feed mechanism seemed better it did'nt really work either. I got fed up at that stage and altered it myself with the aid of a small Gclamp and a tin snips! the Gclamp is still in place and the welder works ok. Not surprised they're gone but from looking at ad's in car mags Sealy etc. seem to be selling identical welders so whether the problem that I experienced still exsists I dont know.

To answer some of the questions, I recently bought a sliding mitre saw from a company on ebay specialising in bankrupt stock etc. It was a wolf item. Read into that what you like. I bought it on the basis that for £85 I could do all my woodwork and if it quits in a couple of years who cares?

I was reading something earlier (now for the life of me cant find it again!) that Omega wolf have ceased trading with debts of £544,000 + and they're basically saying that the Aldi supply agreement has killed them.

Back in the 60s and 70s I recall Wolf made professional grade power tools as used by tradesmen and the kind of thing you'd find in factories. I'm sure the logo was the same.
Did they drop from making things to box shifting and then to oblivion, or is the story more complicated?

if your wanting free advertising front page on google post on here and nearly all posts get there i built a scrap cable stripper posted it on here and its on there literaly thousands of hits so watch what u put thats why a lot of people find this forumHi guys i have just stumbled on your postings in relation to Omega wolf. I am an area sales manager for 1 of their competitors and was researching a possible customer for my employer. On looking into this company it shows all the signs of being Omega Wolf trading under a different name. I was looking into a company called UKHS.tv and when i street viewed the postcode i was looking at a sign outside Omega Wolf's warehouse. Hope this helps you all looking at trying to solve your problems.

I've got a massive 240v drill that came from the steelworks when all the "hand" tools went to 110v in the 1960's its slow but unstoppable, proper heavy duty kit, not the Chinese rubbish that's carried the Wolf name for the last few years.

i would imagine there will be plenty of places, I suppose it all depends what is wrong with it and whether its a wolf specific part
On a lot of the product info plates you may well see the Logo with MEW set in a circle at 120 degrees.--- A lot of Wolf in the 60s was made by Makita Electrical Works, It wil have the MEW logo on the plate,this was long before Makita became the houshold name we all know now.. Indeed then, no one had a clue what MEW meant.
I think I have a couple of 60s stuff kicking round, and they have the MEW logo on the plate.
