Question is this:-

The local group of Witches are wanting a portable couldren. They want to use it to smelt aluminium or make alcohol or soup, perfume not sure WITCH.
In short like the image, couldren and burner is 800 MM from top to bottom.

Estimate weight to be 100 KGS, at 660 deg C when loaded and on full chat.

Intend on supporting from top only, using two A frames. Then pour the contents out.

Is 25MM X 25MM X 2MM thickness ok to use???

Some jobs aren't worth the risk. The first thing anyone will look for if there is an accident is a scapegoat and the builder will be in the firing line. Hope you are well insured .

personally I would be starting with 40mm box 4mm wall , with a stay / chain to stop over extension on the top joint [ think step ladder ] chain or flat stays at the bottom of the leg at grond level so it cant spread , and ground level so the pot wont catch on it when poured , infact metal flats would be best so it cant move when pot is poured ,,, a bolt welded on the bottom of each leg would hold the ties in place with a simple nut tightened on them

Found out a bit more. Witches are collecting car parts made of aluminium and melting them into ingots for beer and broom tokens.

I thinks it going to me more like 60 KG, either way, needs to take weight of a person.

Gives something to think about.

Then they are using the wrong thing for the job. They need a proper furnace. Yes, Ally melts at 660 odd, But the oxide melts at 1200, someone needs to go back to the drawing board.

I’ve melted aluminium window frame scrap in a beans tin over an open fire in the distant past, at a bike rally. Then I scraped a mold in the ground and cast a cross. It was only half a beans tin of ally though, but kept me amused for an hour.
