wire strippers?

Is there a cheaper alternative or has anyone made of these? I've a load of wire to get rid of, and Id rather not give it to the scrap man

I've spoke to a guy at the weigh in centre, the price is twice/three times as much if its 'bright' copper wire.

Looks a bit weedy; longer handle would make life easier. Although i dont think it would be long until the handle snapped off looking at that welding.

I use methylene chloride to strip PVC insulation, for twin & earth I use the earth wire to split the outer sheath and coil the live & neutral and dunk it in Meth Chloride for a few hours. The insulation turns to jelly and I just run it off with gloved hand.

You must cover meth chloride with a layer of water to stop it evaporating, and wear face/eye protection.

I get it from a firm in Goole, http://www.eurochem-northern.com/

A Google might find you a nearer supplier.

Thinking about it, Eurochem sell it in 25 litre containers, there was someone on Ebay selling it by the litre.

i use a knife and if it not worth the effort to do that then weight in as is. twin and earth weighs very little when you have taken the plastic off. many scrap yards wont except burn copper up my way

I wouldn't bother stripping anything smaller than 4mm², wieghed in 50kg of 35mm² for the "tea fund" at work

stripping metric 1.0mm cables quick but imperial stranded isnt worth doing .niether is the flat imperial stranded 7029 socket cable . the small hand wheel strippers with a slitting disk are a waste of money and time whatever the price

Should do, I was also going to do my high-impact face shield coz the inserts are bloody exensive!
