got the bigger mig out today and decided to try and get more used to it, welds great except that the wire spool keeps on sticking.
When I first bought it I noticed that the top didn't close properly because the wire spool was too tall, took it apart to find a large caged bearing underneath it which was obviously not standard so took it out, top now closes. I also tried the spool holder which was very stiff to move, so after a bit of work with some emery cloth and aplication of some grease, all seemed fine. The spool holder is a vertical one which means the spool lies flat. It does have an adjuster but this seems to do little except add to the problem, if I slacken it off completely the spool runs on and goes slack.
So here's my first question, are there supposed to be anyball bearings in the bottom of the spool holder ? there is a groove there. or do I need to replace it with a new one ? as I said once it gets going the weld is great and has shown me that after years of using dodgy migs, a good one makes it so much easier. also should mention it has a new euro torch fitted, it is definately the spool holder at fault
