Hi,
I have been trying to weld some 5mm angle steel together with a tec arc 181.
Reading up, 5mm is about the limit of this machine.
So I had assumed i should have the volts at max and the wire speed at max, for maximum power.
With these settings the welding sounds like a machine gun. So that makes me think too much wire speed.
Having thought about this some more, I am coming to the conclusion that the wire speed motor can be too fast for the machine. I guess they use the same motor in each machine even the 300 amp machines.
So max wire speed is too fast for the output of this machine?
I should be dialing in the wirespeed really, I thought I was being clever.
