wire slip on my 105EN

I have had to really tighten up the clamp on the feed wheel on my welder to get a consistent feed, I think the axel through the feed wheel may be slightly bent, its rotation looks a bet excentric, anyone come across this before?

The feed wheel tends to have a bit of runout. The idler should move up and down to compensate.

I have seen the pivot for the idler roller be tight so the arm does not move up and down properly. It removed the idler and arm on mine and scraped some mold flashing off the pivot. It worked fine afterward.

If the idle bearing is worn, it may not be square with the roller.

You may also be missing a spring on the tensioner.

Another thing to check is the liner ok, these welders are supplied with a plastic torch liner which the wire doesn't slide easily in. To check, take off the tension & pull the wire from the torch end. It should pull easily, if more than a few ounces effort the liner needs renewing. Get a metal liner, Weldequip sell them & are easy to change. Even on a brand new machine it's a good mod. as the plastic liners are like windscreen washer tubing & the resistance puts load on the motor drive. There is someone on here that uses that plastic coated springy curtain wire. Certainly looks very similar.

Mine won't feed .8 wire unless I use the .6 wheel. Ran perfectly ever since.... But the metal liner makes a nice difference
