i have been learning to weld using a clarke 100E mig welder. To do the engine mounts on my kit car, which will use 2mm steel.
To start with i was using the gassless 0.6mm wire that came with it and was doing ok, i was doing a really strong weld (it was a case of hitting it with a hammer for a couple of mins to break it), but was not very neat.
but that ran out and i bought some 0.9MM gassless wire, and am having problems with it.
i take it i need to slow the wire speed down with this and move slower, but i seem to be either making a weak weld or burning a hole through.
so is 0.9mm wire too thick for 2mm steel, or do i just need to practice?
cheers
