hello could someone help me out with this i just got a 140 millermatic with auto set on it it came with .024 hobart wire i used that worked fine put a new role of wire on it is lincoln wire .025 i assumed it would be the same but now it keeps flipping my braker in fuse box when i weld for a bit but before it did not ever flip the breaker but it is a excellent working welder this happens when i put it on auto set for .024 i thought someone here may have an idea about this thank you

What size metal are you trying to weld?

Also, what size breaker is it and is the welder the only thing on the circuit?

My 130 would trip a 15A breaker easily and sometimes a 20A.

You were probably close to the breaker limit before, with the slightly thicker wire now it is tripping. I also think the Lincoln wire has a heavier copper plating than the Hobart.

hello i was welding 1/4 nothing else on breaker 15 amp breaker but before i could have lights and things and it wouldnt trip it but maybe the bit thicker wire makes that much differance i dont think it would be anything to do with the welder its a great working welder would i gain much with a 20 amp thanks for the help

Look at getting a 20A outlet installed. That is one of those single outlets used by washing machines.

Also, get a 20A extension cord if needed. They are hard to find and expensive (over $1 a foot,) but will make a difference.

I have a 12/2 25' that worked well with my 130EN. Still noticed a power loss and tripped 20A breaker when running full out. Did not have problems when running at lower power or connected directly.

Installing a dedicated outlet is not difficult if the breaker panel is in the garage. I installed one about a foot below the panel. If you are not comfortable doing it, have an electrician do it. Might be a good time to add any more outlets you would want.

hello i bought a roll of .023 today and it works fine again it must be that im close to to flipping the breaker and with the smaller wire it doesnt draw as much maybe thanks for the help
