Wire movement?

When the wire is fed through to the torch is it fed in a continuous forward movement or is it fed in a forwards/back pulsing type of movement, kind of like 2 steps forward 1 step back?

Looking at the wire speed turorial video on here, when its really slow the wire looks like its pulsing forwards/back.

Im guessing its the wire that you touch the work surface with and not the tip of the torch. IF thats the case, and IF the wire pulses then is there a feeling of pushing back that i should expect when welding?

Continuous feed - set by the wire speed settings

Looking at the wire speed turorial video on here, when its really slow the wire looks like its pulsing forwards/back.

It's a visual affect created by the wire melting - try running the welder without contact to see the wire feed - continuous feed at the rate determined by WFM setting

That ^ sounds like it is pushing back and therefore you have the wire feed setting to fast
